Punjab Chief Minister presents ₹1 crore each to families of soldiers lost in Ladakh incident

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann extended a helping hand to the grieving families of two soldiers who lost their lives in a tragic road accident in Leh, Ladakh, on August 19. He presented each of their families with financial assistance amounting to ₹1 crore.

The unfortunate incident occurred when an army truck, part of a five-vehicle convoy, veered off the road and plunged into a gorge near Kiari in Ladakh. This mishap resulted in the loss of nine lives, including a junior commissioned officer (JCO) and eight soldiers.

CM Mann's compassionate gesture

CM Bhagwant Mann expressed his heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased soldiers, Naib Subedar Ramesh Lal (41) from Sarsiri village in Faridkot and Gunner Taran Deep Singh (23) from Bassi Pathana. He acknowledged the profound loss not only for the families but also for the entire nation.

During his visit to the soldiers' homes, CM Mann pledged to provide assistance and support. To the sister of Gunner Taran Deep Singh, he assured a job opportunity after verifying her qualifications. Additionally, he announced plans to construct a modern stadium with facilities like a synthetic track in honor of the late soldier.

Honoring their memory

In a similar gesture at Sarsiri village in Faridkot, CM Mann announced a job opportunity for the wife of Naib Subedar Ramesh Lal. Furthermore, he committed to constructing a stadium in his name within the village. These initiatives aim to honor the memory of the brave soldiers who dedicated their lives to serving the nation.
